Crawdad Festival
Does anyone know, or is there an itinerary for the delta ride yet? The reason I'm asking is I am going to meet my family there, but I don't know what time (approx) we will get there after our delta ride....thanks, Larry

Re: Crawdad Festival
Larry:
Nothing has been formalized yet but four or five people have expressed interest. Look under "Sunday Rides" for my last post on the matter.
I'd like to organize something. And, as I said in my post, it seemed like this might be more of a destination ride/social event considering the venue we plan to attend. I also mentioned the $5 parking and $5 entrance, just to be sure that those who would like to attend had enough interest in the Crawdad festival itself to want to pony up $10 for entrance.
I don't know if it's the new forum or what, but there have been no responses to my inquiry as to what folks would like to do for this ride. Like I said there, it would behoove us to know:
1) Who is interested.
2) Where they will be coming from (home starting point)
3) What they'd like to get out of the ride/event.
Those three factors would help us plan something that works for everyone.

I am very interested! I will be coming from Tracy...anyone who wants to ride up with me, let me know. Any kind of ride in the surrounding delta area is fine with me. We could meet somewhere central for most, do the ride and wind up at the festival! It will be a good day for me as I am meeting up with some of my family at the festival after the ride. So come on everyone! Post a reply and let us know if ur interested, where ur coming from and such, ok? thx.....Larry

Re: Crawdad Festival
I was planning on coming but my wife had to go back to Holland for family issues. She won't get back until a couple of days before this. I would have to say I won't make this event as of this moment. If that changes then I will show up.
Re: Crawdad Festival
The issue is that there is two threads on this ride, this thread and another one over in the Bay Area Rides topic, http://bamr.heavenforum.org/sf-bay-area-rides-f8/crawdad-festival-on-june-14th-2008-t2.htm#134. So, I think four have confirmed now, Tom, Gtrlarry, myself and Rollingbones. We should probably pick one thread for people to respond to and then post a message on the other one to redirect people.
Re: Crawdad Festival
One common thread would be nice. I'm going to send out a couple of emails from the Sacto area to some Burgman USA folks and see if I can't get a couple more people. If I can't, my wife and I will be coming on down on Sparky, one way or another. She's heard about the festival and is interested in it. Me, I want some good eats and meet some new friends!!! Again if anyone is from anywhere near Sacto, let me know and we can hook up. I'll probably come down 160 from So. Sac, but can make other arrangements to meet up with someone.

Alright! We've got some replies! Good....keep 'em comin'! Maybe we will have a nice little group to ride around the delta with. Who wants to make a map up of the ride to be? Scott maybe? I'm not very good at that yet...so please help yourself-I think there are many roads to chose from to ride around the delta! Maybe hit a ferry or two?

Crawdad Festival
Hi Tom, Count me in also. A couple of days ago I posted the same question on BAMR and here but they don't seem to exist. Who knows what happened. I don't get any messages forwarded to me from this site. Anyway, let me know the plan, if we are going to arrange it on this site or BAMR, etc. Bonnie

emails from replies
Bonnie, et. al.,
To get notified by email from posts, go to your Profile ( from the banner ) and set "Always notify me of replies" to Yes. Then, you will get email everytime someone replies to a thread that you have posted to.
Somehow, we got two or three threads running about the Crawdad festival, but I think that we should use this one for final planning.

Crawdad Festival In Isleton
Yes, let's keep the posts about the CRAWDAD FESTIVAL RIDE going right here so it doesn't get fragmented anymore. Here is what I have been able to gather so far:
Interested participants/coming from:
Scott/Tracy
Larry/Tracy
Mark & spouse/Sacramento
Tom & Elza/Antioch
Bonnie/Concord
Gene/Milpitas
David and Jeff expressed interest but have had to pass. Sam will be in the area for other family business. I don't think anyone else has expressed and interest.
Due to the wheel like nature of the starting locations that everyone would be coming from; because of the nature of the festival itself; because my wife and I want to see a blues band (Catfish and the Crawdaddies http://www.geocities.com/philminas/cfish-main.html) perform at the festival from 4:00 to 6:00 PM; I think the suggestion to meet in Isleton at noon and attend the event in group fashion would be our best bet - a destination ride. We all get a hundred miles or more of delta riding in this way, just not as one group. Folks can leave at whatever time suits their needs staying as little or as long as they'd like. Bonnie, if you don't want to stay until 6:00 Gene would probably be willing to ride back with you on his way home.
The Sacramento folks would probably be coming down 160 from Sacramento. The Concord and Antioch folks can use 4 to 160 on up to Isleton. Gene, if he's coming from Milpitas might want to come up 680, meet Bonnie in Concord and come over 4 and meet us in Oakley and we'll head up 160. The Tracy folks can come over to Oakley via J4/The Byron Highway and head up 160 with us to Isleton. I'd set the meet point at that same Oakley McDonalds we met at for the Sonora ride.
We'll do a Delta Ride another time, when we can organize a circular ride around the delta like we took last year. Even when summer gets hot, the valley heat breaks down every three to five days and the delta breeze kicks in providing a couple of windy, cooler days for us to enjoy such a ride.
What does everyone say?

New post-Crawdad Festival...
Hey Tom...maybe I/we could meet you in Antioch since I will be coming through Antioch to get to 160 (from Tracy)!
Hey Scott...are you going to this also? We could ride up together if you want.
As soon as some more people reply, we can set a time and place to meet (there), and Tom, if you want to set up a ride, there will be at least two or three of us. And if there isn't enough of us for a ride, at least we could ride up together. If Scott's going, we could ride to Antioch and meet you there. And if he doesn't go, I will still be going, and could ride to Isleton with you. Let me know what you think, and I hope more people let us know what they would like to do.....

Re: Crawdad Festival
It looks like I have one and maybe even two others riding in with me from Sacto. Yes we'll probably follow the river and then come in on 160. Just to make sure, is the plan still for everyone to meet at noon at the Del Rio Hotel on Main St? This is going to be a good week for me.
Tomorrow morning I have to (or get to) ride to North Lake Tahoe to help with a presentation at a conference and then ride back Wed (to think I'm getting paid to do this plus milege). Think I might do a loop arond the lake before coming home.

Re: Crawdad Festival
Larry:
Yes, that's the one. the McDs right up against the freeway where Main Street Oakley passes under SR160 and becomes East 18th Street in Antioch. Let's plan on 11:00 AM which is enough time for a soft drink and easily make Isleton by noon to meet with the Sacramento folks even if the bridge between Sherman Island and Brannan Island is up.
Mark:
In front of the Del Rio Hotel at Noon is a plan. Just in case the traffic or mid-street parking makes it impossible to stop or circle that area, about a block east of the Del Rio Hotel there is a public river access point on the levee with a parking lot between the levee and the street. That would be a good, alternative staging area to gather the troops and ride over to the parking area for the festival as a group.
All:
Bonnie is out due to another commitment. For planning purposes, I'd like to get a final head count w/names by Friday afternoon so that I can be sure to include everyone in and not leave anyone behind. Posting your intentions right here is fine.
Cell phone numbers would be nice too. I'll start with mine (925) 550-7602.

Crawdads and Delta
Looks like I can make it after all. I got a phone call last night that I'm off the hook for Saturday.
Now, are there any others from Marin? Shall we ride over together?
Do we have a BAMR schedule? Are we planning full Delta ride or just the festival???????
The following items and activities/behaviors will NOT be permitted at the festival:
* NO Pets (except for assistance dogs) Bring your assistance dog in your topcase.
* NO Glass Containers
* NO Outside Alcohol may be brought into the festival Buy all your alcohol at the festival
* NO Smoking or Alcohol allowed on Isleton Elementary School grounds
* NO Knives or Weapons of any kind. Leave your 9mm's at home
* NO Drugs or Drug Paraphernalia None of your cooking spoons.
* NO Waterguns
* NO Ice Chests
* NO Refunds or Exchanges
* NO Lewd Behavior or Flashing (violators will be removed from the grounds or arrested) It's okay, we'll bail you out.

Re: Crawdad Festival
David:
If you read back a few posts, you'll see that no delta ride is planned. We decided to make this a destination ride and show up and hang out at the crawdad festival using the "getting there" as our ride. This was mostly due to the fact that everyone was starting from such far flung places as Antioch, Sacramento, Tracy and now, Marin. A destination ride is something we haven't done before and might prove to be interesting.
Based on what I've seen as responses, people planning to attend are down to: You, my wife and I, Larry & Mark and his wife.
Bonnie is out as is Scott. I've heard nothing from Gene so am assuming he isn't planning on making it. Others had previously said they wouldn't make it or never expressed an interest.
The plan is:
Elza and I will be waiting at the McDonalds in Oakley, just before the Antioch bridge, for Larry at 11:00 AM and heading up SR160 to Isleton and the crawdad festival. Mark and his wife as well and possibly some other Sacramento friends will be coming down 160 from Sacramento and we'll all be meeting up in front of the Del Rio Hotel in Isleton at noon.
I don't know David whether you'd prefer to ride over SR12 to Rio Vista from Marin and meet us there, take SR4 over from Rodeo and meet us at the McDonalds in Oakley or just meet us in Isleton in front of the Del Rio Hotel at noon. You'll have to let us know.
Due to past experience with traffic jams on the levee road outside of Isleton, a friend of mine made a great suggestion: Don't head up 160 from Rio Vista into Isleton but got east on 12 out and come in "the back way" to Isleton on Jackson Slough Road which I think we will do. That is the road we took out of Isleton on our Delta Ride last year.
Let us know what you want to do.
