"Ride for Kids" June 29th *Long Post*
Last year at our 2nd Annual “Ride for Kids” in Pleasanton, CA, we had about 20 scooters in attendance, which was 19 more then our 1st year. I’m sure we would have had greater participation from the scooter community if we had given potential attendees more notice and other events. With all the publicity surrounding the 2008 "Ride...", I'm hoping to see over 100 scooter in Pleasanton this year. Like last year, this year the "Ride for Kids" will start/finish at:
Where: Pleasanton Middle School, 5001 Case Street, Pleasanton, CA
When (Registration): 8:00-9:45 a.m. (Ride): 10:00-11:30 a.m.
Supporting the “Ride for Kids” and getting sponsorships will save lives. Without sponsorships, the event will cost you $35, but don’t pay for the ride out of your own pocket, get sponsorships and let others pay for your participation. In doing so, you may earn one of the many premiums available to those that put the kids as their highest priority and raise hundreds and thousands of dollars, like the “Curve Unit” did last year, when they, as a club, raised over $8,500. If you’d like to learn more about the “Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation” and the “Ride for Kids”, go to the following websites: http://www.pbtfus.org/about/ & http://www.rideforkids.org and I hope you’ll become involved in this worthy cause, too! Oh, by the way, The “Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation dba the “Ride for Kids” is a registered 501(c)(3) charity
There are two ways you can join other scooter riders for the San Francisco Bay Area "Ride for Kids" on the 29th. 1st, You can ride directly to the Pleasanton Middle School and pay your $35 registration for the ride. 2nd, You can join me for the ride to Pleasanton by meeting me at the following location and time:
WHERE: "Longs Drugstore" Parking Lot in Walnut Creek at the Intersection of Olympic & California Blvds
WHEN: Get there at 7:45 a.m., because my plan is to leave Long’s at 8:00 a.m., SHARP!
If you’d like to lead your own ride to the event, please, PM or Email me so that I can post your meeting location & time on all the forums I frequent for the "Ride for Kids"
FYI: The police escorted ride begins at 1000 hrs, SHARP and will last approximately 90 minutes. There will be coffee, pastries and juice provided in the morning. After the ride, there’ll be bag lunches, soft drinks and water provided. After lunch, the “Celebration of Life” will begin, where you’ll meet some young survivors and learn what’s being done to cure and treat that horrible disease from the experts.
Here's where you can get your RidePackets, which contain everything you need to know about the event, premiums, donation receipts, waiver form, registration form, etc:
