Group Ride along Skyline Bl Empty Group Ride along Skyline Bl

Post by JeffR Tue Jul 01, 2008 6:51 pm

Hi,

I guess the Skyline Bl ride won out this month for a ride on the Bay side. Hopefully there can be a ride over on the Central Valley side too. I will post a route, that can change at anytime if we all want, sometime tonight or tomorrow night at the latest. If you have any suggestions after I post it please say so and it can be changed really easy.

Here is a route that might be a very good ride:

http://tinyurl.com/67quhc

Another Map that shows a birds eye view of McDonalds, the gas station, and Hwy 92:

http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&FORM=LMLTCP&cp=q7nz1k4t5dfx&style=b&lvl=1&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&scene=7883817&phx=0&phy=0&phscl=1&encType=1

USE THIS LINK TO INPUT YOUR NAME ON THE LIST:

http://bamr.heavenforum.org/sf-bay-area-rides-f8/list-of-riders-for-the-july-19th-skyline-bl-ride-t118.htm

It is about 115 miles and 3 hours long. We can meet at the McDonalds, which has a gas station right there, and take off from here at 10am. We will then ride up to Skyline Bl (Hwy 35) and there is a Vista Point right there so we can take a nice group picture. It is very nice scenery there. We can take off down Skyline Bl and ride past Alice's and keep going on the route and then finish up at Alice's. We might want to stop somewhere for a snack down in Santa Cruz (or lunch) and then ride back up to Alice's along the coast and stop there for coffee and take another nice group picture. There are many beaches along the coast to stop for pictures or health breaks. Just about all of the beaches have some sort of restroom/outhouse.

Please reveiw this map and tell me what you think. It is a suggestion and can be changed very easy.

Thanks,

I gather that the meeting point is just South of the Intersection of Hwy 92 and Hillsdale Blvd in San Mateo, at a Shell Station. Is that correct?

Jeff,

This looks great! Thanks for putting the map together so soon. And 10AM is perfect: It'll give me enough time to ride over to Point A without having to wake up too early.

See you on the 19th.

Kevin,

You're welcome. Here is a link that uses msn.com with a birdseye view of McDonalds, the gas station, and Hwy 92. You can just zoom in and out to see everything. Thought this would help to give a visual for when you get there.

I just rode to the meet point today and the exit is labeled "West Hillsdale Bl". You will see the McDonalds and the Shell station right there. There is also a Starbucks in this smaller shopping center in case you don't like McDonalds coffee. We can plan on leaving McDonalds about 10am or so. The ride is only about 115 miles but we can stop a few times for pics or what not. This is one of my favorite rides.

I'd forgotten that we have a family campout that begins on the 19th and runs through the 28th. I'm sorry everyone, but I'll have to backout of the ride! See you on the next one...

It looks like the wildfires and thick smoke at Trinity Center are going to cancel our family campout. Sad So, I'm back on board for the ride. Very Happy

Group Ride along Skyline Bl Empty July 19 Ride - Newbie is out

Post by johnmac Sat Jul 19, 2008 8:36 am

thought I was going to get to meet you all this morning. But I've got to get into the office for a last minute request.

I'm a newbie to two wheeling who bought a Burgman 650 a couple of weeks ago. Love it!
Working and living in Dublin for a start up type company in the finance group. Moved to CA a year ago when the company had 13 employees. Now we are at 50+.

Anyway I can't make it, but look forward to rides in the future.

Have a great ride!
