I have put the link in here to sign a petition for motorcycles to ride free in the toll lanes. If anyone is interested you can sign it online

I just signed because it looks straight forward. What's the background, is there a movement to charge motorcycles in toll lanes?

I asked a question like this to Gary Richards, "Mr Roadshow" at San Jose Mercury news in regards to an article he posted about upcoming toll roads on I680 south. Gary replied and said that motorcycles always ride for free in HOV lanes.

HOV are the "High Occupancy Vehicle" lanes, sometimes called "Diamond" lanes. On my commute on 680 South, there are HOV lanes all the way from the Highway 84 intersection south to San Jose.

That's what I figured...the "Diamond Lanes"....thanks Scott, I just never heard them called HOV lanes before. So it is true? We can ride through the diamond lanes for free? Hope so.....

I'll sign, but every time I cross the GG Bridge and have to pay the $5 (Soon to be $6) car rate, I think it is unfair. Our share ought to be much less--$2-3.

I echo David's comments: At the very least, motorcyclists should pay less than autos.

In Southern Calif. there are many toll lanes. They are similar to the toll roads in other parts of the US. If you pay a toll you can drive in these "special" lanes that not as populated and much much faster. There is talk that some of our commute routes in the Bay Area will have these added.
Today in California motorcycles are allowed in the diamond lanes as well as crossing the bridges free during commute hours. If you have fast track you have to protect it so no toll get deducted when you are in the carpool lanes entering a bridge.
