BAMR Group Riding Guidelines - for Monthly Rides
Bay Area Maxi Riders group guidelines
1) Whoever organizes the ride is the group leader that day and will
take the lead in organizing the group. I don’t mean this as a “drill
instructor” thing but just to organize and inform the group.
2) Riders shouldn’t just take off while the group is still
assembling, either in the parking lot or during the ride, but stop
every so often to reassemble the group. If the group stops please
let’s have everyone stop to assemble.
3) Try to determine good spots for the group to stop for pictures or
health breaks together. It seems like some would stop and then some
others would become concerned if they were in trouble and there
was some backtracking being done to ensure everyone was ok.
4) I have a set of walkie talkies that I will bring so at least one
person in each group can have one. It seems we break off in groups
with the aggressive riders in the front and the more conservative
towards the rear. Tom mentioned he might bring some too.
5) I think there is a chart with hand signals too somewhere. Maybe
someone can find it and post it here so we can learn the most
important ones. An example is when a rider stops he can signal that
everything is ok and the rest of us can keep riding and they will
catch up to the group.
6) If the group is bigger, like the ones we have had, we could have
the 2 groups ride to their liking and then meet up every 15-20 mins.
The faster group could just find a place to pull over and wait for
the others.
7) The organizer needs to post the maps and instructions on this site so the other members can print them for themselves.
PLEASE GAS UP BEFORE MEETING AT THE START POINT!!!
Please add more guidelines if you think we need them.
Ride safe,
JeffR
